Xiaomi may be preparing a new sub-brand or a new series of smartphones tailored to the community of tech enthusiasts. Rumor has it that this new sub-brand or series would come with a near-stock Android experience.
This new report comes from the mobile indian (opens in new tab) which says that this new series or sub-brand may come with a Snapdragon 700 series chipset. The biggest highlights of this new line may be the fact that this upcoming phone/brand will offer a bloatware-free experience.
The report also suggests that the phones would be priced at Rs. 15,000 – R$ 25,000 price range. Also that there will be two models, one based on the Snapdragon 765 and the other would be powered by the Snapdragon 778G.
Xiaomi has not yet decided what to call the phones, whether to revive the A-series ready and dusted or create a new sub-brand like Poco.
This may be the only hope for Xiaomi to bring tech enthusiasts back to its side.
Xiaomi has been getting a lot of criticism online from users and tech enthusiasts regarding many things, software bugs, UI ads and much more.
Xiaomi was once the darling of tech enthusiasts, but it has fallen off the radar of the tech enthusiast community in recent years as the brand became popular and new competitors arrived with exorbitant prices copying its business model.
Also, MIUI used to be the defining feature of Xiaomi devices and it turned out to be polarizing now. People either love it or they hate it. The tech enthusiast community seems to hate it more than love it these days.
Furthermore, Xiaomi, along with other Chinese brands, is under scrutiny by ED for money laundering investigations.
Xiaomi needs a miracle to change its image among tech enthusiasts, YouTubers and Twitter tech gurus. This new sub-brand or series could just be the ‘Brahmastra’ for that.
Stock Android, as we know, gets rave reviews from tech enthusiasts no matter what. A clean, ad-free and bloat-free Android experience from Xiaomi with the aggressive pricing that Xiaomi is known for is a surefire success.
Why not switch Poco to a new UI close to stock?
Poco seems to turn things around for this, with the appointment of his new boss Himanshu Tandon. It seems to be getting the brand’s bona fides in the eyes of tech enthusiasts and regular users alike. Poco recently claimed to have been the top seller in Flipkart sales.
Breaking records in consecutive sales! 💯Excited to announce that POCO remains the top selling phone brand in @Flipkart’s Independence Day Promotion. We are absolutely honored by your response. 🥰Thanks and welcome to the madness! 😈#POCOLife #BigSavingDays pic.twitter.com/NAdIKyct7bAugust 12, 2022
This also begs the question, wouldn’t it be easier if Poco announced a move to stock Android and continued as is? Poco already has a strong base and is on the rise now.
We’re not sure what Xiaomi is preparing for the Indian market right now. Whatever it is, it looks exciting for the Indian smartphone market and, knowing Xiaomi, would set the market on fire with its relentless pricing.
