Amazon Live, a live streaming service that allows sellers to discover their products through live streams to customers on Amazon, was launched in India by the platform.
In India, Amazon is using a large pool of content creators and social media influencers, who will host in-app live streams and products sold. Users can purchase products from links provided during their live streams. The company said 15 Amazon live streams will be held every day from 10 am to 1 am.
Amazon, which is holding its Great Indian Festival, has invited over 150 content creators to Amazon Live. These creators will receive a commission for every sale made through the link they provide.
How Amazon Live works
“Through Amazon Live, Amazon India aims to connect influencers with customers at scale, enabling them to make informed purchases,” said Kishore Thota, director of customer experience and marketing at Amazon India.
“Amazon.in continues to make e-commerce more inclusive by lowering barriers for customers across the country, including those in tier 2 geographies and below, for them to enjoy the benefits of online shopping,” he added. .
The live stream can be found on Amazon’s main menu in a section called Amazon Live. Currently, Amazon Live is hosting live streams in categories such as electronics, fashion and beauty, and home decor in India.
Influencers, who host live streams, have an account on platforms like YouTube or Instagram and, using them, do live streams. Creators typically provide product demos, explain their features, benefits, and special offers, and help customers make informed purchasing decisions. The live chat feature allows real-time interaction and get your questions answered, if any. Shoppers have the option to “Follow” which allows them to stay up to date with influencers, brands and interests they care about.
Amazon said it will add more features and invest in innovations to make the shopping experience more enjoyable and satisfying. Amazon.in’s rival, Walmart’s Flipkart, is also testing a similar offering on its app.
